When my clients have been able to replicate themselves, they've been able to remove the stuff out of their business life that they don't love doing, and they've been able to scale the impactful stuff.
So through a combination of digital content, AI, and virtual assistants, they've been able to focus on a lot more stuff that they love, and have a business that grows where they're not the bottleneck having to do everything.
So let me just share quickly what they've been doing.
Part one: the digital version of you
So the first part of it is basically creating a digital version of you, and that's your digital content. What you want here is for people to be able to discover you, and to get to know, like and trust you through the digital content you've got.
So basically what we're talking about here, in its most simple form, is a good LinkedIn profile. Making sure that that messaging is client focused, and that that messaging is also replicated on your website if you have one. But ideally there's also somewhere like YouTube where people can binge watch a little bit of your content to see if they gel with you.
It's the same idea I wrote about years ago in putting the digital version of you to work, and it starts with unpacking your IP so there's something worth publishing in the first place.
Part two: the virtual version of you
The second pillar is the virtual version of you. What I mean by this is that we've all got a business network, but most of us have neglected it, or it's dormant.
Now, most of us have got a gold mine sitting in our business contacts, but we've never taken a shovel to extract any of that value.
And so with the virtual you, it's all about uncovering and tapping into that network that you've spent decades, most likely, building and nurturing. So a lot of people know, like and trust you already. All we need to do is unpack that and actually go back and re-engage with them. And this is typically where the money comes in.
It's very common for my clients in the first month to have identified dozens, if not hundreds, maybe even thousands of people they've done business with in the past, whether that's a past client or even a past prospect. And it's very easy to go back to those people with a simple re-engagement message that can then re-engage a new conversation or re-engage a new project. Very, very quickly.
So that's the second part. I refer to that as the Low Hanging Fruit exercise, and it's really, really powerful. If your network happens to sit mostly on LinkedIn, I've written about where that value hides in LinkedIn's hidden goldmine.
Part three: the AI version of you
And then the third thing clients do to replicate themselves is to create an AI version of you. That's really just unpacking everything up here in your head and on your computer, and programming it into something like a custom GPT or a project.
So it can create content. It can know how you write, know how you think, and know your body of work. It can be your right-hand co-pilot for a lot of your content creation tasks, writing tasks, even video scripts, any of those types of things. Even a business adviser, to be honest. It's super, super powerful.
I've written about why AI ends up sounding generic instead of sounding like you in why AI gives you generic answers.
What does it look like when all three are running?
And when we do those three pillars, what that means is that the person in the middle, which is you, the real life you, you're free to do the stuff you love the most, that's most lucrative in terms of dollars, and that is most creative.
And in fact, just in one week, a client picked up a $40 grand piece of work just by sending a two sentence email to people she'd worked with 10 years ago. Another client sold out a workshop just by reaching out to people in his existing network. Now, the people who turned up to that workshop then booked him for a $40 grand piece of work, and since then another $20 grand piece of work.
So there's a lot of value that you're likely sitting on that is just dormant. And that's the first step in this whole process. I wrote up one of those runs in more detail in 40k in 4 weeks.
If that resonates, that's exactly the work in my private program. Take a look at Leverage Yourself. And if you'd like this for a room of accountants, advisers, brokers, lawyers or property people, here's how the sessions are tailored by industry.
Frequently asked questions
What does it mean to replicate yourself in business?
It means building a digital version, a virtual version and an AI version of you, so the business can grow without you being the bottleneck having to do everything. You then get to focus on the work you love the most, that's most lucrative and most creative.
What is the digital version of you?
It's your digital content, so people can discover you and get to know, like and trust you before they ever speak to you. In its simplest form that's a good, client-focused LinkedIn profile, the same messaging on your website, and somewhere like YouTube where people can binge watch a bit of your content.
What is the virtual version of you?
It's the business network you've spent decades building and have probably neglected. Most of us have a gold mine sitting in our business contacts but have never taken a shovel to it. Uncovering that network and re-engaging with past clients and past prospects is typically where the money comes in.
What is the Low Hanging Fruit exercise?
It's going back through the network you already have and re-engaging with people you've done business with before. It's very common for a client in the first month to identify dozens, hundreds, maybe even thousands of past clients and prospects, and a simple re-engagement message can start a new conversation very quickly.
What is the AI version of you?
It's unpacking everything in your head and on your computer and programming it into something like a custom GPT or a project, so it knows how you write, how you think and your body of work. It then works as a right-hand co-pilot for content, writing, video scripts, and even as a business adviser.
Does re-engaging an old network actually produce work?
It does. One client picked up a $40 grand piece of work by sending a two sentence email to people she'd worked with 10 years ago. Another sold out a workshop by reaching out to his existing network, and the attendees then booked him for a $40 grand piece of work and another $20 grand after that.
