LinkedIn is an absolute hidden goldmine for most owners and directors in high-trust professional services businesses.
It can become a low-friction, high-trust client acquisition engine. The easiest wins come from people already in your existing network. They're silently watching, and waiting for the right moment to reach out for help. They often just need a gentle nudge.
My job is to make sure you are the person they think of and reach out to. The good news is it's not complicated, and the odds are stacked in your favour.
Here's why
99% of prospective clients only see the digital version of you. If your LinkedIn profile stacks up, you stand out. Most of your competitors have profiles that look like a resume from 2014. It's a low bar to start with.
Then compound this with the fact that 99% of people, including your competitors, are lurkers on LinkedIn. Paying attention but not contributing. If you show up regularly and initiate the odd conversation or post content, it puts you in the top 1% of active contributors.
It takes just 10 to 15 minutes a day, or even 10 to 15 minutes a week if that's all you've got. And it brings in clients.
The tricky part
There are two things that make this hard:
- Knowing what to say
- Getting out of your own way
And yes, of course AI can help, but it's between the ears that we need to tackle first. Custom GPTs and prompts will accelerate everything else once you commit.
The technique is low tech. Find your ideal clients, elevate trust with them in a non-weird way, and invite them to engage in a way that makes you feel generous and helpful, not awkward and uncomfortable. There is almost certainly a client lurking in the wings who is ready to work with you.
